From my day one in medical school I prayed for a role model and God took me to you. You became a father, mentor, teacher, helper, role model and professional coach. The news of your dismiss came in as a shock. All the lovely memories and support you gave to me and my colleagues (now doctors) while in medical school (UNIPORT) are still fresh and empowering. May your fatherly and lovely soul continue to rest in the golden bosom of God.
WE WILL CONTINUE TO MAKE YOU PROUD PROF 🌹

A TRIBUTE TO A LOVING FATHER FIGURE
Prof. Nimi D Briggs was a very loving and caring man to us, a unifier and very focused. Words can not describe how I felt when I heard of his death. He was called by those very close to me “my father” he is an achiever who’s legacies will live on, he was a mentor, a motivational speaker, an intellectual juggernaut, an administrator, a man with a pure heart, a very peace loving personality, a man that commands respect all over, goal getter, highly disciplined and fun to be with.
The bound we shared is everlasting.
Dad, please kindly extend my love to Honey Mother. and may the good Lord grant your soul eternal rest through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen!

One of my last communications with Emeritus Prof Briggs was on the 22nd of February 2023. It was his birthday. He was a man I had a lot of respect for. His oratory skills were mind blowing.
He was my mentor and friend. His love for the University of Port Harcourt is unrivalled. His contribution to the Education sector especially with regards to the development of a befitting academic curriculum for Nigerian Universities directed by the National University Commission is worth emulating. His efforts for the provision of a befitting salary scale for academic staff of Nigerian Universities will never be forgotten. He was a vice Chancellor of vice Chancellors. He was a Pro-chancellor of Pro-chancellors. In the medical field he was an enigma. I greatly miss him. I pray his soul rests in peace with our Lord God.

Dear exalted Prof Nimi Briggs one like no other. The first time I heard about you was in my preclinical, and finally, when I met you it was not different from my fantasy. Your undisputed values and professionalism were untouchable. Your kindness, fairness, and justice to humanity were heavenly. Father of the downtrodden and helpless may your gentle soul rest in perfect peace.

The Day God Called You
Home

You never said you were leaving..
You never said goodbye..
You were gone before we knew it..
And only God knew why..

In life, we loved you dearly..
In death, we love you still..
In our hearts, you hold a special place..
No one could ever fill..

A million times we have needed you..
A million times we have called you..
A million times we have depended on you..
A million times you have stood with us and by us..
A million tears we are shedding now..

If love alone could have saved you..
You would never have left us..

It breaks our hearts to lose you..
It breaks our hearts to say goodbye..
But you didn’t go alone..
For part of us went with you..
For part of you remain with us..

The Day God Called you home…

Adieu! Emeritus Prof. Nimi Dimkpa Briggs. An erudite scholar, teacher, instructor, administrator, mentor, father, and friend.

May the Lord grant your kind and gentle soul eternal rest. Amen 🙏🏾

    Nimi Briggs.
    The finest
    My Boss
    My good luck
    My blessing
    My teacher
My manual on how to be a Prochancellor.

Ezigbo nmadu, a good human being
Transparent, unselfish, firm, and yet fair to all.
    Tolerant, accommodating, and humorous.
A higher human being, if such a description exists
At peace with the high as with the lower socials
Would give without asking, and indeed will think of the comfort of others.
Unique emotional intelligence, calm, no foul word, no guile
Radiated the dignity of man, and the refinement of the sensibilities of man.
    Loved humanity and loved me.

    Yes, he loved me.
    He believed in me.
    He honoured me.
    He blessed me.
    He prayed for me.
And he saw a blessed future for me.

    Then, Easter Monday 2023.
This was not part of the script.
    Not now.
    Not what we talked about.
    Not what we planned.

I have not even reported back.
I did not see this coming.
I don’t think he, nor anyone else saw this coming, in this time.

    Our shared thoughts on 2024,
Our shared thoughts on the years following,
Our shared thoughts on the wellbeing of the University

Only God could have seen this.
And only to God shall we run.
For the family, and for all of us, only to God.

Mummie Data, and the family, take heart.
Even as we struggle to take heart.
    Only God will heal.

My Oga, Distinguished Prof Okebukola, is it true that Grandpa Briggs is gone !!!
I am short of words… Grandpa Briggs was no ordinary scholar. He was an intellectual of note with uncanny ability to think differently. The moment he realized my closeness to you, he fully adopted me into his fold. When we are in the midst of others he will fondly introduce me as, “former VC of LASU and one of Peter’s outstanding guys”. Grandpa was an enigma, easy going and always eager to share knowledge. Oga, please accept my condolences. It is natural for you and many of us opportune to know Grandpa Briggs to be shattered at his demise. We naturally would want him to be here to play more roles in those great initiatives that you both continously put to the fore. But our consolation should be that God Almighty spared his life enough to accomplish several laudable feats that will forever be reckoned with as enviable legacies on earth. Grandpa Briggs, awesome teacher of teachers, RIP… May God give Mama Briggs and the family you left behind the fortitude to bear this great loss. My sympathies to the family.

Professor Nimi Briggs was truly a Dimkpa; he never dimkpalised. Just remained a dimkpa, lifting weights and showing himself by his many accomplishments. Very good quality lost. May God raise his type again from among men, to serve the common good.

Prof Idowu Olayinka, Former Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan 12 months ago

A big shock indeed to learn of the passage of Professor Emeritus Nimi Briggs. I came across the sad news via a digital card signed by the Medical and Dental Consultant Association University of Port Harcourt. A phone call to Professor Joseph Ajienka, Quondam Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt and a protege of Professor Briggs, confirmed my worst fears. He informed me that Professor Briggs marked his 79th birthday in February this year. He was such a great patriot and mentor to many. He never for once refused any invitation we extended to him even at very short notice. He presented the Keynote Address at the First Senate Retreat of the University of Ibadan held on 6th December 2019 on the theme _’Expectation for UI Senate at 70’_.

Baba, I spoke with you on phone regularly during the protracted Federal Government-ASUU strike of last year during which period you had the unenviable task of being the Chairman of the Negotiation Panel. You remained your true self, told me of your frustrations and more importantly you spoke the truth to power.

Rest in peace, Sir. You were the only person who called me ‘Yinka’, an abridged version of my family name. I never bothered to ‘set the records straight’. Your wise counsel and mentorship will be sorely missed by all of us who knew you. You have fought a very good race and it is time for you to rest in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Good night, Sir.

It is on a sad note that I received the passing to glory of Emeritus Professor Nimi Dimkpa Briggs, FRCOG, FMCOG, FAS on Monday 10th April 2023. Professor Briggs was my teacher at ABU Zaria in the 70s. He was a great teacher and mentor who rejoiced over the progress of his montees. He was a renowned Teacher of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, a superlative clinician, a leader in ALL facets of life . A man who encouraged excellence, hardwork, integrity, determination and focus.

Any statement from Professor Briggs was loaded with wisdom. He was a totality of a man and it is difficult to describe such a huge man of intellect, a perfect organiser and gentleman. One could not open his/her mouth without reorganising and rehearsing several times. One’s English construction must be perfect before Professor Briggs, otherwise he would put you on the spot and would ask, “Doctor, why would you open your mouth to make waaaaa”.
Professor Nimi Briggs made the teaching and learning of Obstetrics and Gynecology very simple and he inspired me to specialise in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. He has brought up and positively affected the lives of hundreds of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in Nigeria. I admire him and he was my mentor and my model.
My oga, your legacies live on.

May the almighty God grant your soul eternal rest and the family the fortitude to bear this painful and irreplaceable loss. Amen!

Saddened by the news of the passing of our Prof. Though i didn’t get to meet you personally, but all I’ve heard about you are good news. Continue to rest in peace.

Prof Daprim Samuel Ogaji 12 months ago

Quite a sad news that had thrown us into mourning and awakened the fact that death remains an existential reality.
A father, teacher, coach like none other. He commanded a high order of moral and physical courage and from this vintage pedestal, he freely gave of the stores of his learning, and of his time, to the public service and general interest of humanity. The Centre of Excellence in Public Health and Toxicology which I lead greatly benefited from his benevolence as the Chairman of the Advisory Board.
He was a strong and upright man, and left behind him an unblemished record of successes in most fields of human endeavors. Who are we to question when the Good Lord calls his dear son to rest in perfect peace. I bless the Almighty for a life worthy of emulation who had left indelible memories of courage, perseverance, hardworking, humility and dignity. May the Almighty grant solace to the family left behind as this great legend lives on in our thoughts.

Emeritus Prof N.D. Briggs was a man of many many parts and he fulfilled all the parts perfectly. One of those parts was being the chairman of the board of the sports institute of the unique Uniport.
Chei it’s true o
An Iroko has fallen
A goodman and a great physician has gone home
He was incomparable.
A Prof of Profs with vast knowledge of virtually every field/specialty.
He was comfortable nay excellent discussing classics, philosophy, music, the environment.
As a teacher he not only had the knowledge and understanding, he had the unparalleled ability to pass it on to us his children and students in the most simplified way.
A wordsmith has gone home.
Most importantly emeritus Prof N.D Briggs lived what he lectured.
He practiced what he preached. He was fair, firm, Faithful and fearless.
If you did well he praised you. If you didn’t do well he told you so (and you agreed with him usually). He was constant as the northern star in his believe in industry, sincere effort and faith in the Almighty.
He was a noble father and teacher.
A giant and a Colossus in the affairs of men.
His life was so gentle and the elements so mixed in him that nature will stand up and say “this was a man”
Adieu Adieu Adieu
Fair thee well great soul.

I write to commiserate with you on the loss of your husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, the late Prof. Nimi Briggs.

Prof Briggs was a kindhearted and gifted man who used his enormous talent to serve mankind in the best way he could. Through committed and selfless service, he accomplished much for the medical profession and the academic community in Nigeria, holding prominent positions in several critical health institutions and in the nation’s university administration system.

He was a man for whom I have great respect. He was committed to what he believed in. I worked closely with him when he was the chairman of the Health Committee of the National Think Tank and I was amazed at the ready answers he had for the challenges of our health system.I also benefited from his wealth of experience throughout my tenure as Secretary to the Bayelsa State Government and during the early part of my membership of the House of Representatives.

I know you miss him dearly. But you should be brightened up by the good name he has left behind, his record of excellent service to humanity and the many precious lives he has moulded. There are many who miss him, including me.

I pray that the Lord will give peace and strength to all of you and to everyone who misses this great man.

    Yours Sincerely,

I can attest to the fact that he practiced exactly what he said: “ Treat everyone with respect…”

He was the first person to announce to me that I had qualified as a doctor, and told me to go drink some beer.

From that day, everything changed! My classmates would recall that he scolded me several times for smoking and other juvenile tendencies that I manifested…

He started to treat me like a respected colleague. When he came to Jos University Teaching Hospital as an external examiner, he looked for me and insisted to Prof. J.A.M Otubu that I had to be on his team. Although I was only a House Officer, he wanted to know what I thought about every candidate, he took my opinion on board and praised me openly and effusively. Then he invited me to dinner at Plateau hotels during which he told me some funny but very personal things.

We met up several times after that, and each time, he made me feel special and important.

Such an impactful life! I am thankful to have had the privilege of being his student. 🙏🏾

For Our Inimitable Nimi Briggs.
This is indeed an unquantifiable loss at this time of need for stellar leadership and visionary intellectual Exemplars.
I first met Professor Nimi Briggs through one of my great mentors, Professor Tekena Ntonye Tamuno (TNT). He was always brimming with life, positive energies and a clear vision. His vivacity was electric and infectious; always healthy and faithfully positive. Whenever I gave my compliment, he smiled and responded with a gentle blurt – ‘Prof!’ You couldn’t help liking and respecting him. He did his best at anything he laid his hands on. Each time we met thereafter, I transferred to him and hailed him with one of the epithets I had always reserved for TNT – ‘Inimitable Nimi Briggs!’ Same as before with an infectious and hearty smile. We didn’t realize you were so close to home and not a little more time to roam. What a life and what a brief, unassuming valediction. How can it be that you wouldn’t want to bore or weary us with some warning and remorse? Perhaps you didn’t want to hurt us. Maybe it was just time to return to take an inventory, and to give account of a stellar, worthy stewardship of great deeds and accomplishments. Whatever it is, we respect your choices and foreclose the evening with prayers and an ode to a full and fulfilled life. After all it is not how long but how well. Be well. Be happy and know that we all love you and wish you a safe trip without the usual foreboding. It is well until that great, inevitable resurrection morning. So long dear senior colleague and friend.

Tribute to Prof. Nimi Dimkpa Briggs
By Dr. Daminabo Sonny Briggs

Professor – Professor of Professors
Nimi – Wisdom
Dimkpa – Distinguished, eminent personality
Briggs – famous patronymic
Names from the heart are prophetic!

Prof. Briggs’ demise- a great shock to me.
Unbelieving, I waited for confirmations.
And they came in torrents!
How can we “explain the explanations”?

Ever- looking -young and ebullient,
Such a sad tale, not in thirty years!
Such is life, not so lenient?
Like the rising Sun in laughter and the setting Sun in tears!

A Master-Teacher, Teacher of teachers.
He taught not only Obstetrics and Gynaecology
But also the arts, English, morals and more….
A man of many parts and colours.

His brilliance and intelligence
Evergreen in our hearts.
World-class academic and colossus and
Iconic figure, with many “feathers in his top hat”.

A born speaker with great oratorical skills.
When do we have another handsome man
To represent the Kalabari Nation?
When? To speak for Rivers State, Nigeria and the World?

Oh, what a loss to the “Briggs mega family”, Kalabari Nation, academics, NMA, SOGON, WHO!!!

I came into medical school hearing the name NIMI BRIGGS.
I first met him during a SOGON conference when as young people, you go and greet your seniors. He was exceptionally warm and friendly such that I wondered if he knew me prior to that meeting.
I later found out that he is like that by nature.
Always encouraging his younger colleagues to aim as high as they can go.
We thank God for the fulfilling life he lived as well as the lasting legacies he left.
He will be greatly missed by the many lives he touched as a loving and just human being, the medical community especially his subspecialty of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, including the world at large.
May his noble soul rest in peace. Amen.

Our Patron has never failed in his promises to all Choirs. Prof. and his loving wife attended all our Choir Performances and have constantly encouraged us.

Tribute to Prof. Nimi Dimkpa Briggs

It was with great shock that I received the news of the passing of our brilliant Teacher and Medical Icon on that fateful Easter Monday morning (10th April 2023).

I knew him as a student of Uniport Medical School, 1989 (fourth graduating set).

I met him later when he was Vice-Chancellor of Uniport in 2004 in his office and discussed contemporary issues.

In 2011, we reunited at an event in Leeds convened by Dr. Abiye Hector-Goma and his expressed his gratitide to God for being able to carry out several assignments with professional excellence and clarity of mind.

I was delighted to see him in Asaba in 2013 at the South South Economic Summit and again in 2014 at the dinner of the Society for Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Nigeria.

The last time I saw him was at the Opening Ceremony of the National Executive Council meeting of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria in 2022, which he chaired.

We communicated via whatsapp on several medical issues over the years.

I cannot believe our very vibrant, erudite, eloquent Professor is gone.

Rest in peace Sir. You labour has not been in vain.

With a heavy heart we say ! Adieu Prof Briggs, indeed you were truly an icon. You made me love obstetrics and gynecology. Not only were you a great teacher and mentor no one could meet and forget you. The true measure of a man is not measured by his material possessions but by the impact he makes on the lives of men. How many people smile when your name is spoken ? There are no words to describe your global impact . You approached every relationships with vision. We all have stories of our encounter with you. When we recant them they bring laughter, joy and sobriety. It’s amazing to note that as you fought your final battle, all the children you raised in the medical family were at your bedside. They were from all over the world. If we could fight your death and win we would have done so for the love we have for you. May the Lord keep your family and comfort them in this season. We celebrate a life well lived. Adieu Sir

TRIBUTES

Death, though tragic as it appears, is remarkably symbolic, as it is a rite of passage to another higher life especially for believers in Christ Jesus our Lord and Saviour.

Sir Professor Nimi Dimpka Briggs, our dearly beloved in Christ, you were a paragon of virtues in your pilgrim years. Your wise counsel, hospitality, kindness and generosity were unparalleled. Your life and person was a wholistic blessing to humanity and to the body of Christ in the global scene. Truly, your mission on earth was perfectly accomplished to the glory of God your maker through your sundry services to Him and to humanity.

We thank God for knowing you as a father, friend, mentor and parishioner in our service years as the Vicar of King’s Chapel, Bishop’s Court, 4 Harley Street Old G. R. A. Port Harcourt where your kind self and dear Wife, Lady Data took us as your own.
You gave us your best all the time and little did we know that the Dinner you prepared for us before we moved to our new place of ministry was going to be our LAST SUPPER, what a lavish show of love.

Indeed, William Shakespeare was right when he said “the world is a stage and we are actors, as we have our entrance so we have our exit”. Certainly this is not the end but a beginning to a life of bliss and eternal glory. May God grant your gentle soul eternal rest in His Bosom. Amen.

Land of those who are platinum,
Those archetypes of Grace,
Creatures of unmatched elegance.

Ever ready mentor,
Quintessential administrator,
Impeccable ambassador.
A spouse without equal,

You toiled and you stood tall.
In every sphere you touched,
And everywhere you walked,

As you blew in every vent.
You are Nimi, the wise One.
The impeccable, unmistakable One.

TRIBUTE TO EMERITUS PROF. NIMI D. BRIGGS
Aw, how would I describe such a person as Emeritus Prof. Nimi Briggs whose life and career has towered impacts not just in the academics but governance, nation building, humanity, medicine and the faith.
As I write, his sterling performance in leadership and plethora of contribution to scholarship leaves me with no certain and precise words to describe the magnitude of his person.
Our paths crossed in the early 80s when I joined the academic faculty of the University of Port Harcourt. I am grateful for the bond we shared. Thank you Sir for your humility supports and favour.
Emeritus Prof. Nimi Briggs is an accomplished educationist by all standards with enviable track records of excellence and laudable achievements. His mighty imprints in the sand of time cannot be forgotten having occupied a significant place in our heart.
Indeed, Prof was an astute, seasoned and dogged administrator, a renowned scholar of international repute, a consummate teacher par excellence, a strategist, trailblazer, Professor of Professors, visionary leader, doyen in medicine particularly obstetrics and gynecology, prolific author, crusader of development, worthy knight of the faith, a founding member of Board of Trustees of Our Saviourʼs Chapel whose roles stabilized the Chapel during its turbulent years, full of magnanimity, a pragmatic mediator and a mentor. Your unimpeachable and consistent character at all times is undoubtedly profound or is it your sagacious intellectual industry? Truly, Prof. Nimi Briggs life inspires.
Particularly, I vividly recall when you were slated for a lection and you read from Deuteronomy 10:17 (For the Lord your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regarded not persons, nor taketh rewards). Honestly, it was your diction that inspired me to recite this scripture that have become one of my very favourites. Habitually, I imbibed the culture of being excellent in every delivery and assignment.
What more can I say? The values you epitomize are too numerous to be said.
Alas, you will be greatly remembered and missed for all these and more that you represent. Just like the Hymnist Horatius Bonar (1808) sang `only remembered for what we have done`. Your space in the world is irreplaceably vacant. Thank you for a life that has blessed humanity.
Rest in Peace, Emeritus Prof.
Adieu!!!!

Emeritus Professor Briggs! I still hear your hearty laughter! I would never forget the first day I met Prof in the operating theatre, he came that day just to interact with us students. I still can recall how quite simply he dissected Gynaecology as a subject. We always looked forward to seeing him thereafter because Prof Briggs inspired anew each time you met him. I daresay Prof Briggs had it all; a wonderful family, an accomplished carrier, Sterling achievements in administration and internationally renowned! Yet he managed to live quite simply and with such humility. Indeed he was a happy man, he touched every aspect of our lives positively. His memory is forever blessed. Rest on my Professor.

Tribute in Honour of Late Emeritus Professor Nimi Dimpka Briggs, MB, BS (Lag); MD (Lag); FRCOG; FWACS; FICS; FMCOG (Nig); FAS; DSc; NNOM, JP, KSc, OON
May we, at the Faculty of Law, University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), be quick to indicate that writing about the Late Emeritus Professor Nimi Dimpka Briggs, the Sixth Vice Chancellor of UNIPORT, seems like writing about the elephant, which could be described differently, depending on the direction of the writer towards it.
He was a distinguished Medical Practitioner, who specialised in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, which he practised in a classic manner.
He was profoundly gentle such that he demonstrated enormous goodwill to all and sundry. He was therefore a Medical Practitioner, whose relations with his patients, students, other members of the UNIPORT Community and the rest of society was so superb that he was described as a public relations personality.
He was also an astute administrator and scholar per excellence, whose passion for the knowledge industry was exceptional. Thus, he once remarked that if he were to return to Planet Earth, he would serve further as a University Teacher.
He was indeed a rare gem of our society, who worked tirelessly for the wellbeing of UNIPORT until he passed onto glory.
We therefore invite students and scholars to embark on academic researches pertaining to the life and times of this giant academician of our era, towards making useful conclusions and recommendations about the contributions of scholars like him to the advancement of education, especially the Nigerian University system, and society at large.
Having laboured to distinguish yourself by fighting a good fight and finishing the race (2 Timothy 4:7), we wish you safe journey to your Maker (God Almighty)! Adieu our beloved Emeritus Professor Nimi Dimpka Briggs!! May your gentle soul rest in peace in the bosom of The Almighty!!!

TRIBUTE TO LATE EMERITUS PROFESSOR NIMI DIMKPA BRIGGS

It is heart wrecking to pen down a tribute to my uncle, mentor, father and predecessor, late Emeritus Prof. N. D. Briggs.
I have been faced with difficult times but none has affected me like the demise of an interdisciplinary scholar and my mentor. His death came as a great shock and a colossal lose to the nation and particularly to the academia.

He was a Teacher who made indelible marks in the medical profession. Many of my earliest memories with him were at the College of Health Sciences, University of Port Harcourt. Everyone who passed through the College would have something to say about this astute academic icon; his presence was never hidden, he was indeed revered. No doubt, he rose through the rank and files in his field from Provost College of Health Sciences to Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Chancellor, Chairman, Committee of Pro-Chancellors of Nigeria Federal Universities where he carried out national assignments and impacted the entire nation. He was also an international figure to reckon with.

Death is unfair to have snatched a veteran who showed me fatherly care when I assumed duty as the 9th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt. He opened his well of experience and gave me wise counsels from his administration as the 5th Vice-Chancellor. He was available to check up on me and the University he loved so dearly.

The Briggs family, Abonnema Council of Chiefs, Akuku-Toru Local Government and the good people of Rivers State mourn the departure of this elder Statesman. This is evidenced in the ceaseless calls we have received, welled up eyes flooding in tears and the traffic of tributes/condolences all to his painful exit.

Indeed, the life and times of late Emeritus Professor N.D. Briggs cannot be shared on paper; it was better experienced than explained succinctly and I am glad I was part of his life.

His death has created a vacuum which cannot easily be filled. Notwithstanding, I shall do my best and continue to take the University of Port Harcourt to greater heights like he has always wished.

Our prominent academic has taken a bow in honor and his labour shall not be in vain. His immense contributions to academia and the medical field live ad infinitum.

Adieu my Teacher and Mentor!
Adieu one of the finest brains of Obstetrics & Gynecology!
Adieu Provost of Provosts!
Adieu our dear 5th Vice-Chancellor of The University of Port Harcourt!
Adieu Pro-Chancellor, Bayelsa Medical University!
Adieu Chairman, Committee of Pro-Chancellors of Nigerian Federal Universities!
Adieu Emeritus Professor Nimi Dimkpa Briggs till; we meet again at the resurrection morning

Tribute to late Professor NIMI Briggs

A “daddy for all” you were and the pain of your exit is shared by many (like me). The name Professor Nimi Briggs is almost synonymous with the University of Portharcourt and a household name to every Riversman albeit the nation Nigeria if not the globe . Though he became the VC when some of us had left, his image pre the VC ship and after his tenure had hardly been surpassed. The simple reason beyond academics tutelages and administrative impact has been his demeanor and fatherly disposition towards all that crossed his path.
Personally ,has he been of an immense influence. In his public conduct, vision and understandings in proffering leadership directions for many and the upcoming generations.
In recent years as I traversed the position of the National Secretary General of the University of Portharcourt Alumni Association, to my position as the National President of the University of Portharcourt Alumni Association world wide , I’d had opportunities to sit close to keenly listen to him speak ( in most of our end of year activities)in many occasions as we always would have him as the special guest.

Recently, we were in Abuja for the chapter’s Town and Gown symposium and I had the rare privilege not just to sit close to him on high table but again listen to his goodwill message on the event. He was not only cerebral as won’t of the genius he was , but carefully worked with organizers and participated at every level giving a direction of the stages and what practical impact /other feed backs envisioned (in due course )by the program .

In fact he was there at the program earlier than any of us or any other special guests could arrive . And that is seamless punctuality and humility displayed to the chagrin of everyone for which I learned again.

But I saw him strong and I remembered having a chat with him saying “ for God and truth “ sir ( as he was of my secondary school Alma mater ). I said to him you looked dapper sir. and the testimony of your weekly workout exercises is challenging us, and I’d decided some one month ago to sustain equally a workout program to keep fit and get off (my body )this laziness, and he laughed.
Back in Portharcourt after the Abuja summit, he called me on phone (which I was so appalled with excitement ) saying mr President and I answered “daddy sir,” he said he needed certain persons number or I should ask him to call him. I carried out swiftly the message with a request/promise that I will visit him to have a discussion.
But alas! That appointment I craved for never came over the months before I was awoken to the rude shock of his demise.
It is a painful loss , for in Professor Nimi Briggs was a “global asset “ yet to fully be tapped

My prayer is to ask the comforting hand of our God to comfort you all , according to word in. 2 Corinthians 7:6a
Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus;

May we even in the midst of pain , seek solace from the words of Dr Martin Luther king jr. that says “ The ultimate measure of a man is not in moment of comfort and convenience but where he stands at moment of challenges and controversies “ This is what we seem to be witnessing.
So note ; We are altogether with you in this pain and grief.

This still does not feel real.
Daddy, you were a man of exemplary character, I learnt a lot by just observing and listening to you for the two years I lived in your home.
Apart from being the father in law to my dear brother Tunde, you were also my guardian and father when I just started Pharmacy school in Uniport. You showed kindness and granted the stability a new undergraduate would need at the time. I will always be thankful.
This loss has brought a lot of of pain to those who held you dear but has also been a moment to reflect and appreciate the sovereign God that we all had the privilege of sharing in your life.
You are forever in our hearts, Prof.

Exit Of A Sound Academic Giant: Professor Nimisoere Dimkpa Briggs. (1944-2023) Former Vice Chancellor, University Of Port Harcourt (Uniport)

It got to a time; the name Prof Nimi Briggs was synonymous to the name of the Ivory tower University Of Port Harcourt (Uniport). The name Prof Nimi Briggs was a name that stayed long in the annals of Uniport because the man who bears the name made a lot of impactful and indelible marks in the University Of Port Harcourt (Uniport).

Prof Nimi Briggs remains one of the loveliest and cheerful academics I have ever met.His cheerfulness is contagious that you wouldn’t resist his all time high spiritedness at any time you come across him.

I have always been opportuned to see him in great occasions and he would always keep an open arms or a warm handshake to exchange pleasantries with me.

During the inauguration of the present Vice Chancellor,Prof Owunari Abraham Geogewill in the year 2021 I met Prof Briggs at the campus residence of Prof Georgewill; I requested for his number after I told him about a literary event that the Nigerian Literary Society (NLS) would hold and he gladly mentioned his number
to me.

The next time we met was at the residence of late Alabo T.O.Graham-Douglas’s house at Onne Road GRA where I was invited by Alabo Graham Douglas and he asked me if I knew Prof Nimi Briggs I said yes and I greeted and sat down. Also, after the death of Alabo and during Alabo’s commendation and evening of tribute,I met him and still reminded of our plan for the literary event he quickly obliged without hesitation.

Fortunately, I was also opportuned to co-edit Alabo’s book titled “Until It Happens To You” with Prof Nimi Briggs.

Prof Nimi Briggs will be remembered for his simplicity approach to life with his well dignified personality with the welcoming smile he wears.

TRIBUTE TO A FRIEND INDEED: EMERITUS PROFESSOR NEMI BRIGGS
Nimi o, as you were fondly called, I cannot believe you are gone. The news of your passing on to the great beyond, to me, was like the day your bosom friend, Emeritus Professor Augustine Ahiauzu (Late) passed on. A real vacuum has been created once again. I surrender all to God. You were a man who understood and valued relationship. You loved and you were loved by all who came across you. You could do anything to ensure the comfort and well being of others.
I lack words to sufficiently describe you. Suffice it to say that you were humble to a fault. The heights you attained in the society did not stop you from relating equally with both high and low. When you took over the chairmanship of the burial ceremonies of Prof. A.I. Ahiauzu, it was obvious that you were a man of virtue, principle, integrity, dependable and a reliable friend indeed.
The Ahiauzu’s family and the entire Ogba community have not ceased to celebrate you. Your Maker called you home for a greater service. You came to this earth, you saw. You conquered. You ran the race with no stone unturned. Receive your crown of glory. Your legacy will forever remain indelible. Fare thee well. Adieu. On behalf of the Ahiauzu’s family of Omoku, we are wishing you a peaceful rest in His bosom.
My dear sisters, lady Data (his dear wife), children, Elder Dr. (Mrs) Nengiya Ideriah and all members of the Briggs family of Abonnema, take heart. Be consoled by the testimonies and encomiums poured out of wounded hearts. May the Holy Spirit comfort you and give you the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable vacuum.
Adieu Emeritus Professor. Adieu thou good and faithful friend. Adieu Uncle Nimi o.

TRIBUTE TO EMERITUS PROFESSOR NIMI BRIGGS

Like many others, I received with utter disbelief and shock, news of the death of Prof. Nimi Briggs. The day he died, Rivers State, the academic community and indeed Nigeria at large, lost an erudite scholar, administrator, a great physician, a researcher, orator per excellence and quintessential gentleman.

My first close contact with the then Dr. Nimi Briggs was in 1986 in Ikoyi, Lagos at the home of Mr. Lloyd Harry of Shell Nigeria, where he normally resides, at the time, when he visits Lagos. I was also staying with Uncle Lloyd as a young medical doctor in Lagos. On one of his trips early in 1987, he came around with my letter of employment as Registrar in his department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital.

I received the letter with confusion, because at the point I had finalized plans to travel to the United States of America, having obtained a fresh 5year American Visa for any available specialty training. Three months after that incident, I relocated to Port Harcourt to start work under Dr. Nimi Briggs’ tutelage, at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH). An invitation that opened new vistas of opportunities for me, outside the practice of medicine.

By mid-1990, I told my then teacher and mentor, Dr. Nimi Briggs that I had discovered my passion outside the surgical theatre and antenatal clinics, but he will not hear of it. Proceeding on my annual leave same year, I dropped my resignation letter. Subsequently, we kept interacting in many fora and had

home visits. However, late in 2022, he called that I visit him, at his home. Just the two of us. We talked we talked about unity in Kalabari land and his days as a pioneer set of our school, the College of Medicine, University of Lagos.

He then opened a bottle of wine and personally poured into two glasses for us to toast and drink, before finally telling me, the purpose of this special invitation. “Emi, I have watched, read and heard of your many achievements in life since 1990 and I want to say I am proud of you”. We both hugged. Sadly, this was our last meeting. However, two months ago, as Vice Chairman, Organising Committee, I called and informed him that he had been chosen to play the center forward position for the Baptist High School Old Student Football team, to mark the school’s 75th year celebration, slated for later 2023. He gladly accepted the challenge. I mournfully now know, that won’t come to pass. This is, utterly devastating, to say the least.

My consolation is that in my own little way, I honoured him. As President of the University of Lagos Alumni Association, Old Rivers State Branch, I decorated him in 1995 with the “Distinguished Aluminus” Award.

Prof. you came, you saw and you conquered and indeed left indelible marks on the sands of time. You will forever remain in our hearts.

Sir, may your soul Rest in Peace.

I write, for myself, my wife Ifeoma and our entire family, to express our heartfelt condolences on the demise of your dear husband, PROFESSOR NIMISOERE DIMKPA BRIGGS, which sad event occurred on the 10th day of April, 2023.

I urge you and your children and grandchildren to please take heart. God gives, and He takes away. It is my prayer that the same Almighty and Eternal God may grant you all, and all the members of the bereaved families of the deceased, the courage and fortitude to bear this most irreparable loss.

I have to say that I knew Professor Nimi Briggs, as your dear-departed husband was fondly called by all of us, and numerous others, very well. He was my Senior Friend and In-Law, and we both served in some Boards and Committees. He was a bold, forthright and outspoken man, who took his several engagements very seriously. I recall that when he was the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, he graciously granted my personal request to him for admission into the University of one of my close kinsmen. That young man, who had since graduated from the University of Port Harcourt, is now one of the pillars of my Rukpakwolusi Town Community in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

I have taken due notice of the announced programme for the funeral ceremonies, and it is my intention to participate therein as fully as I can.

I pray the Almighty and Eternal God to grant you and all concerned the grace to give the mortal remains of the great man a most befitting burial. I also pray the same Almighty and Eternal God to grant the soul of Professor Nimisoere Dimkpa Briggs eternal rest in perfect peace. AMEN! AND AMEN!

Yours ever sincerely,

My dear Prof Sir,
I am yet to come to terms that you are gone from our presence forever. I am so sad. My heart is so heavy; it is difficult to comprehend the fact that I will never see you again.
Chai! You for try reach 80 small. But your life was not in your hands. Alas, you have bowed in obedience to your Creator, to answer to a greater Call. We are happy though that you lived well and gave of your talents to all who came your way, including Kalada – my Husband, and I.
You exuded such energy, that I thought you had many years stretched out for you. During our morning walk-outs, you and your Coach had to slow down for me to catch up. What went wrong? Those who looked forward to seeing you those early mornings will miss your warm and generous greetings. Those who were encouraged by your energy, will miss you too. Your fans stretch out in different categories, class and colour. We will miss you dearly.
You were a great man. To me, you were a father, teacher and friend. I relied on you whenever I was bereft of ideas, especially, concerning AGEWIN. When I conceived the idea of AGEWIN, you encouraged and spurred me on, and you became a Trustee when it came to reality. You gave your time, funds and ideas to all its programs. You were just a phone call away. Your doors were always open to me. You treated me with such respect that humbled me beyond my understanding.
You expressed your concern about AGEWIN Programs when I told you that I was travelling out. We both agreed that we could do a lot online and whenever I am in Nigeria, we would hold a physical Program. But you would not be there to keep to your promise.
We will miss your laughter, your positive energy and vibes, brilliant contributions to issues. The world has lost a huge figure – a colossus of our time.
Rest in peace, my Prof. Sir. I pray that God will comfort my Lady D, your Children and your teaming admirers and students.
Good night.

TRIBUTE:
PROFESSOR NIMI DIMKPA BRIGGS

Prof Nimi Briggs was an amiable, simple and humble man.
Despite his towering credentials and accomplishments in medicine and university administration, he was always accessible and willing to help.

As a dedicated Trustee of Age Gracefully Elders Welfare Initiative (AGEWIN), an NGO for the care of Seniors (60+ and above), his impact was immeasurable as he touched the lives of the aged weak and in-firm. He contributed his ideas, time, energy and funds to all the programs – welfare, visitation, excursion, games and teachings, carried out from 2019 to 2023 – both physically and online. He was positively visible.

“Once upon a memory someone wiped away a tear, held me close and loved me”
(Author Unknown). This is how we can summarise what Prof Nimi Briggs did for humanity through AGEWIN

We are truly proud of his legacy of selfless and sacrificial service to the Church, the State, and the world at large. He was indeed a blessing to mankind.

We shall continue to cherish his wisdom, administrative acumen and simplicity.
We pray that God will continue to be with his dear wife of many years and indeed his family.

His loss to us is heavens gain.

May his noble and precious soul rest in the bosom of our Lord. Amen.

TRIBUTE TO A VALUED MENTOR, FATHER, FRIEND, BROTHER AND COLLEAGUE

We received the sad news of the demise of our dear Father and colleague, Emeritus Prof Nimi Dimkpa Briggs, as a rude shock.

It is with a deep sense of sorrow that I write on behalf of my dear wife, Dorathy and my family, to commiserate with the entire family over the death of a committed family man. He was a good man in the real sense of it and a man of many parts. I witnessed his dogged approach to higher education management and his commitment to professional excellence which endeared him to most of us. His sustained encouragement and tutelage were instrumental to most successes that were made at the Rivers State University of Science & Technology Port Harcourt during my two tenures as Vice-Chancellor. He was an erudite scholar. He affected us positively.

Only His creator can explain his sudden departure to His bosom above, at this time. We are consoled that Prof left his footprints in the sands of time through his quality services to humanity. We sincerely pray that God Almighty gives the family and the community the fortitude to bear this irreparable earthly loss of a dear mentor, father, friend and colleague, in Jesus Name.

Prof, Adieu.

Yours Sincerely,
Prof Steve S. Azaiki OON.

TRIBUTE TO EMERITUS PROFESSOR NIMISOERE DIMKPA BRIGGS (1944- 2023)

Emeritus Professor Nimisoere Dimkpa Briggs was a colossus and an icon in his
lifetime.

A Distinguished Akokite who graduated top of his class in the mock final MBBS Surgery examination in 1969 and went on to pass his final MBBS examination with distinction in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Prof. Briggs was a perennial award winner throughout his lifetime. This winning streak began in his student days when he won a gold medal for Best Student in
Paediatrics; and for Best Student in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Lagos. He went on to win several awards, grants and scholarships on his journey across the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Coming back home to the University of Lagos, he served as Member, Court of Governors, College of Medicine, University of Lagos, for four years effective 2015.

Prof. Briggs was a friend and mentor to very many Alumni of the University of Lagos. He was also a pillar in the Rivers State Branch of UNILAG Alumni Association. It is no surprise therefore that in 2015 he was decorated as a Distinguished Alumnus by the University of Lagos Alumni Association, an award reserved for graduates of the University who have distinguished themselves in public service and/or notably impacted their disciplines and society.

He was a Vice-Chancellor extraordinaire, and it came as no surprise, given his astute administrative prowess, when he was voted Chairman, Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities.

Just like the adage that says ‘a goldfish has no hiding place’ Prof. was soon appointed as Pro-Chancellor and indeed became a serial one having been given back-to-back Pro-Chancellorship appointments and in his characteristic expertise, proudly flew the Unilag flag in all his endeavours until his sudden passing.

Professor Briggs did us proud both nationally and on the world scene in academia, Medicine and surgery. He was also exceptional in administration and community development. His excellent spirit lives on in the works of his hands.

Prof. was a star and his humility, despite his erudition and surreal plethora of achievements, is worthy of emulation.

His departure, to us, was sudden but we are confident and can say of Prof. Briggs ‘He has fought the good fight and finished the race. He has kept the faith. Now there is in store for him the crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge will award to him on that day’ – 2 Tim 4:7-8 (paraphrased)

Adieu Prof. Briggs, adieu.

THE GLORIOUS EXIT OF A LEGEND : TRIBUTES TO EMERITUS PROFESSOR NIMI DIMKPA BRIGGS
By: Professor Angela F. Miri, Former Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja and Visiting Professor, National Universities Commission (NUC)

My Mentor, My Father, My “Victor Ludorum”, I am dazed and can hardly come to terms with the reality of your demise. The very sad news of your passing shocked my husband (your then-medical student in ABU, Zaria) and I to our bone marrow. I was on my way to visit a sick relative when the information reached me – I stopped abruptly for 15 minutes, speechless and visibly shaken. Thereafter, I screamed while hoping against hope that someone out there should emerge to inform us that it was “fake news” (which has gained so much currency, unfortunately, in our time). Not until Mummy Datta Briggs responded to a text message that I had summoned the courage to send her, I continued to live in denial but finally became convinced about the stark reality of your glorious exit. The legend has gone Home to rest!
“Daddy” or “Grandpa”, as you were fondly called, I am completely devastated by the deadly blow of your demise.
You were a mentor, a father, a shield against the harsh weather of blackmail, envy and the infantile behaviour of some supposedly elderly members of the University Community. You never minced words at the bad conduct of those livid with envy and destructive tendencies. You did not hesitate to counsel such persons who betrayed myopia, foolishness and ignorance. You did so philosophically and with wisdom. You were sometimes frontal and direct, not minding whose ox was gored.
Providence had brought Emeritus Professor Nimi Briggs and me into close contact when he was appointed the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State, Nigeria, where I was serving as Vice-Chancellor for barely a month before his appointment in March 2016.
We toiled together for four years with him until the end of his tenure in March 2020, when a new Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council was appointed in the person of Senator Chris Adighije, another enigmatic personality.
I was therefore privileged to meet this enigmatic Aristocrat from an Aristocratic family of Abonnema, Rivers State, for the first time on the 1st of March 2016, the day of his inauguration as 2nd Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the re-constituted Governing Council of the Federal University Lokoja along with other Pro-Chancellors of the then Twelve (12) New Universities in Nigeria which he had Christened the “Big 12” at one of the joint meetings of Vice-Chancellors and the Pro-Chancellors of “The Big 12” Universities.
On arriving the scene of Federal University Lokoja (FUL) as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Emeritus Professor Nimi Briggs, from day one, left no one in doubt as to his mission of transforming the nascent institution into a world-class University. He quickly set the direction for the way the University would grow and develop.
To this end, Emeritus Professor Nimi Briggs swung into action and at the maiden meeting of the reconstituted Governing Council on 24th March 2016, where I gave an account of the state of affairs in the institution and unveiled my plans/vision to work towards making the Federal University Lokoja a foremost academic institution in Nigeria and beyond.
In the Foreword to that document, Emeritus Professor Nimi Briggs stated that Council was impressed by my vision as Vice-Chancellor and my resolve to tackle the huge and complete challenges of bringing the vision to fruition. He assured me of the Council’s support in the discharge of my onerous responsibilities. Above all, through the Foreword, he graciously wrote, the Council called on all Staff and Students of the University as well as the good people of Kogi State, where the University is domiciled and indeed all well-meaning Nigerians “to align themselves with these well-articulated plans of the Vice-Chancellor for the development and advancement of this young institution with tremendous promise.”
Indeed, he applauded my Vision for the development of the nascent University to which he had gladly written the Foreword and directed through the Council that it became the roadmap for the rapid development of the young Federal University Lokoja. Through his encouragement, my vision document became the roadmap along with the Strategic Plans and the Academic Brief for the development of the University. He truly believed in the prospects of the University to become great in the nearest future.
Subsequently, Emeritus Professor Nimi Briggs became the pillar upon which my tenure as Vice-Chancellor became highly successful. He brought to bear his immense wealth of experience on the taming of an otherwise thoroughly divided environment we met on campus. He found to his dismay, the uncooperative attitudes of some senior academics and Non-Academic staff who were sharply divided on the basis of ethnicity and tribal cleavages. The enigmatic, patient, perceptive and diplomatic Professor Briggs and other External Members of Council and Management swung into the business of re-orientating the entire University Community on what a University Community should be.
It is not a wonder that all the infrastructural facilities both at the Take-off site of Adankolo Campus and those at the Permanent site in the Felele Campus were owed much to Emeritus Professor Briggs doggedness, encouragement, commitment and sense of purpose.
All the monumental infrastructural development of the University was duly approved in Council by the Emeritus Professor Nimi-Briggs’ led-Governing Council and the then Management of the University through its tender board and processed to the Council. These are all glaring for all to see as the Nimi Briggs led-Council helped in turning a thick forest at the Felele Campus into a now thriving Campus with so many infrastructural facilities put in place during his tenure. So it was that the University Management worked hand in hand with the Governing Council to have turned the “Thick Forest” that was the Permanent Site in Felele into a beautiful habitation with several structures constructed through the various intervention allocations of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund TETFund, namely; Ultramodern Laboratories (at Adankolo and Felele); Students Multipurpose Centres (at Adankolo and Felele) NEEDS ASSESSMENT block of classrooms (2 story Building) at Adankolo Re-Constructed remodelled University Health Centre with delivery suites, theatre, digital laboratory, pharmacy, consulting rooms male and female wards etc. (at Adankolo Campus) Renovated Administrative Building, Senate and Council Chambers (at Adankolo Campus) Faculty of Management Sciences; Two twin Lecture Theatres at Felele Campus; Departmental Office Blocks at Adankolo and Felele Campuses. The computer-based training Centre; Faculty of Education; Main University Gate symbolizing the Federal University Lokoja seated at the Confluence of the Rivers Niger and Benue at Lokoja; 2 Security Posts at the Felele Campus; Blocks of classrooms; Reticulated Water Tanks and Boreholes; Drainages and Access Roads at the Felele Campus amongst others.
All these were in addition to the establishment of new Faculties and Departments and the Post-Graduate School offering both Diploma, Masters and PhD Programmes which the National Universities Commission had approved under Emeritus Prof. Nimi Briggs as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council and my humble self as Vice-Chancellor. Not only that, but the Remedial Science Programmes were also conducted with his tacit approval as well as efforts at transforming the vast University land at the Permanent Site into some viable ventures in order to generate funds for the University. During his tenure, the University held all its Convocations as at when due. He is fondly remembered as the first Pro-Chancellor of the University to have delivered the 2nd convocation lecture in 2017, which was well attended with the University Auditorium filled beyond its capacity.
The title of the Convocation Lecture was: “Resources and the Prospects of Development in Nigerian Universities”.Of course, the delivery of the lecture was with dexterity, eloquence and passion by the Quintessential Academic cum Administrative Colossus, Emeritus Professor Nimi Briggs. It was a delight watching and listening to Professor Briggs, teach rather than lecture. He remains a teacher in life and in death.
He was Adventurous, Emeritus Professor Nimi Briggs loved adventure. On several occasions, he led the Governing Council on excursions to popular tourist sites in and around Lokoja, such as visits to the Confluence of the Rivers Niger and Benue, Mount Pati, Ajaokuta Steel Company and Dangote Cement Factory (Obajana), respectively. In all these visits, Knowledge was acquired in addition to recreation.
It was a routine for Emeritus Professor Nimi Briggs to lead the External Members of the Council on daily exercises at the University’s Sporting Arena. His love for sports and a healthy lifestyle was unparalleled. He was simply a Father in a class of his own, he cared so much about the welfare and well-being of others at all times. Indeed, his love of sports to keep fit was legendary.
Professor Briggs had a huge sense of humour. He would sometimes speak with tongue-in-cheek and preferred to laugh at his frustration when all efforts seemed to fail.
A man of integrity, a fair and just human being, a devout Christian of the Anglican Communion, and in fact, a Knight of St Christopher. Prof Nimi Briggs acted and spoke with the fear of God. A thoroughbred gentleman, kind, sympathetic and compassionate. Emeritus Prof Nimi Briggs cut the picture of God’s finest creation on earth.
A Boabab tree, a huge Iroko tree, has indeed, fallen and we can only fall back on his innumerable legacies of love, commitment, diligence, timeliness, selflessness, integrity, intelligence, excellence, elegance, dexterity, patience, peace and many more, for strength and comfort.
I will particularly miss his wise counsel, he was the only one who called me “Angela!” that sound will be no more!
I am distraught and completely devastated by the passage of a father, a teacher, “sui generis,” a mentor and an Umbrella at all times and Seasons.
I am highly honoured and privileged to have served under him as my Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University Lokoja through historic times, and grateful for all the support, mentorship, sterling leadership and friendship of his colleagues and family members, especially mummy Datta Briggs- all the way.
When I asked Emeritus Professor Nimi Briggs when he would take a break from all his numerous cares and engagements, he assured me that he will take a rest when he clocks Eighty! However, God, in his infinite wisdom, decided to rest him earlier, at 79!
A denizen of Abonnema, Rivers State, Nigeria, this is not the rest we hoped for. But it has pleased the Almighty God to grant you eternal rest instead. May your super Kind Soul rest in perfect peace with your Maker.
Adieu, my Father and Mentor! A rare gem! A legend of our time!

In loving memory of a remarkable man, whose spirit and presence we deeply cherish.
The man who brought me into this world, and served as a beacon to all young medical professionals at the time; my parents included.

He was famed for offering care beyond the medical realm, well known for his gentle words and comforting touch, providing reassurance when life felt too much.

Coincidentally the father of my esteemed mentor, Architect Ninah Briggs, who has flourished and whose compassion and kindness is a testament to his father’s gentle soul.

Your legacy lives on through the thousands of lives like mine you’ve touched. Generations owe you a debt of gratitude, for the safe passage you ensured with fortitude.
